Stripes: A Study in Camouflage, 2017

I designed and built the structures and set, and designed and made the costume I wear. My gestures are symbolic and narrative as revelations of a character. I am the painter and modeler of my body. I am the Clay.

My style in this work is consistent with my painting. Like my paintings, compositions are primarily based on the infinite mathematical sequence Phi and are organized to explore dimension and space.

Also consistent with my paintings, bright warm light and intense color reflects childlike openness, innocence and dream like mystery. There is a surreal sense of the edge of something, a threshold.

There are added dimensions to the format and process of this series of work that reflect simultaneous heightened complexity and seeming simplicity.

The content of this work does parallel certain themes in my painting, and it is personal on multiple levels both figuratively and literally.

These original pictures are taken with my high resolution phone camera. I have not altered or manipulated them in any way other than sizing to lower resolution for the purpose of posting. There is no filter, or touch up, no adjustment of brightness, contrast or hue. These are a few from several in this set.
